Bible prophecy may have a bad name in the light of Harold Camping's misguided date-setting, but the biggest sign of the end may have been overlooked in all the rapture hysteria of last weekend.

Once again, we've seen the U.S. hit with a series of deadly superstorms following Barack Obama's pledge to return Israel to pre-1967 borders.

Just days after Obama insisted Israel must give up lands it won through military victory with its enemies, some 200 people were killed by a tornado in Joplin, Mo.

There's a pattern here.

We saw it in Katrina, when George Bush forced Israel's withdrawal from Gaza. In fact, as everyone from Israeli rabbis to U.S. senators have noted, it seems to happen every single time the U.S. pressures Israel to divide the land.

The phenomenon was best documented by Bill Koenig, author of "Eye to Eye: Facing the Consequences of Dividing Israel."

Koenig points out that nine of the 10 costliest insurance events in U.S. history followed dramatic calls by U.S. officials for Israel to make land concessions in bids for peace with its neighbors. He points out with startling detail how six of the seven costliest hurricanes in U.S. history followed such events. He points out how three of the four largest tornado outbreaks in U.S. history followed such developments.

Earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes, even terrorist attacks have hit America often within 24 hours of calls by U.S. officials for Israel to withdraw from Jewish land.

What does this have to do with prophecy?

It goes right back to Genesis and God's pledge to bless those who bless the children of Israel and curse those who curse them.

That is a prophecy that has seen every empire of the world come and go – yet Israel remains. It may be chastened by God. It may be dispersed. It may be divided according to His will. But God has punished every nation that has come against Israel. Each one has been judged.

You can choose to believe it or not. It won't make any difference.

But he that touches the apple of God's eye will pay a price: "For thus saith the LORD of hosts; After the glory hath he sent me unto the nations which spoiled you: for he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye." – Zechariah 2:8

If you want to understand prophecy, don't listen to Harold Camping – keep your eye on Israel and study your Bible.

In God's economy, there is Israel and then there are the other nations.

It was through Israel He chose to reveal Himself to the world – eventually through the birth, life, death and resurrection of His own Son.

And His Son is coming back to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. It's no surprise where He will return and where He will reign – in Jerusalem.

Trying to understand God and His Son Yeshua apart from Israel is a tall order – because that's how He revealed Himself to us.

His ways are not our ways, and our ways are not His ways.

We can only understand Him through His revelation.

I don't know exactly what date He will be coming back.

I'm not sure exactly when He is going to call out His children.

But I do know it's near.

I know it's near because Israel has been rebirthed as a nation – a prerequisite that simply wasn't in place until 63 years ago.

The Bible predicts all kind of turbulence and chaos surrounding Israel in the latter days. It will nearly be destroyed. But Israel's long-awaited Messiah will save it. He will destroy Israel's enemies. He will reign for 1,000 years.

As Zechariah 12:8-10 reveals: "In that day shall the LORD defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and he that is feeble among them at that day shall be as David; and the house of David shall be as God, as the angel of the LORD before them.

"And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.

"And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn."

And one shall ask Him, "What are these wounds in thine hands? Then he shall answer, Those with which I was wounded in the house of my friends" (Zechariah 13:6).

National mag publishes fabricated report attacking Corsi book

Esquire claims best-seller being disavowed by publisher, 'pulled from shelves'

A major national publication that endorsed Barack Obama for president in 2008 today published a completely fabricated news story claiming Jerome Corsi's new best-selling "Where's the Birth Certificate," published by WND Books, has been disavowed by the publisher and taken out of stores nationwide, with refunds offered to purchasers.

Esquire, established in 1932, alleged on its website today under a "BREAKING" headline that Corsi's book was "pulled from shelves!"

Media are calling WND from around the world about the false report.

WND founder and CEO Joseph Farah confirmed he never spoke to Esquire.

"Never uttered these words or anything remotely resembling them to anyone," he said. "It is a complete fabrication."

Farah said, "The book is selling briskly. I am 100 percent behind it. This has all the earmarkings of a White House dirty trick – but, of course, only the Nixon administration was capable of dirty tricks like that, according to our watchdog media."

The Esquire "report":

The Esquire report, written by Mark Warren, the executive editor, called it a "stunning development" that "Where's the Birth Certificate? The Case that Barack Obama is not Eligible to be President" was being recalled amid plans to "pulp the entire 200,000 first printing run of the book, as well as announcing an offer to refund the purchase price to anyone who has already bought either a hard copy or electronic download of the book."

Farah said the Esquire attack is "a prima facie example of libel and attempt at restraint of trade."

"This is an astonishingly reckless report by a company that has demonstrated its total disregard for the truth," said Farah. "I don't know who Esquire's anonymous sources are, but I can only guess that their address is 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue."

Farah surmised Esquire will claim the article is parody, but he points out that news organizations around the world were contacting him within minutes of its posting on the Internet, with some in doubt as to the veracity of the report.

The article includes fictional quotes from Farah and Corsi – neither of whom spoke to Esquire or were asked for comment.

"We are exploring our legal options right now," said Farah. "There is no question of damages from this irresponsible attack. This book was released yesterday. Our author is in day two of a media tour. This report is playing havoc with a bestselling book – and there is little question that is the intent."

WND Managing Editor David Kupelian added, "I really didn't think the establishment media could possibly sink any lower than it already has in recent years. This is a new low – a malicious fabrication from top to bottom, designed solely to defame a best-selling book, its author and publisher."

Later, after the "news report" had circulated widely and generated widespread misinformation, the magazine added an "Update" in the form of a note at the bottom of the story, explaining it had "committed satire."

Assuming the legitimacy of Obama's recently released birth document, and ignoring the other legal issues concerning the president's constitutional eligibility for office that are explored in the book, the note claimed the "core premise and reason to exist" for the book was "gutted by the news cycle."

"Are its author and publisher chastened? Well. No. They double down, and accuse the president of the United States of perpetrating a fraud on the world by having released a forged birth certificate. … This is despicable, and deserves only ridicule. That's why we committed satire," the note said.

Esquire did not respond immediately to a WND email and telephone call requesting comment.

On April 27, with great fanfare, Obama finally released his "birth certificate" after years of stonewalling, defending against dozens of lawsuits brought by citizens wanting to see it, claiming he had already released it and ridiculing anybody who said he had not released it.

Yet a stunning Gallup Poll taken more than a week later (May 5-8) shows more than half of all Americans remain unconvinced Obama was born in the U.S.

Perhaps that's because, while the establishment press continues to ridicule "birthers" as conspiracy nuts, the White House's April 27 document release has generated vexing new questions and outright contradictions regarding the president's "birth certificate."

For instance, two weeks before Obama finally released his "long-form birth certificate," Hawaii's former Health Department chief Chiyome Fukino – the one official who claimed to have examined Obama's original birth document under lock and key in Hawaii – was interviewed by NBC News' national investigative correspondent Michael Isikoff, who reported that Fukino told him she had seen the original birth certificate and that it was "half typed and half handwritten."

However, the document released by the White House was entirely typed. Only the signatures and two dates at the very bottom were "handwritten." What Fukino described is apparently a different document from what Obama released to the public.

Other problems surrounding the president's newly released "birth certificate" include:

• After Obama's document release, Corsi spent a week investigating the matter in Hawaii. It turns out a private detective in Honolulu claims employees of the state Department of Health forged three Hawaiian birth certificates for Barack Obama to "screw with birthers." And one of them is a dead ringer for the document released by the White House.


• Then there's the question of why the right-hand margin of Obama's official Hawaii birth certificate includes the very same tell-tale scribblings found in a clearly fraudulent document posted on the Internet about a year ago – a document that alleged he was born in Kenya.


• Then – reminiscent of the blogger analysis that sacked Dan Rather for trying to pass off a document clearly created in the age of computers as a decades-old typewritten record – two Web document experts reveal various anomalies in the Obama birth document, including a trick typewriters are incapable of performing.


• Daily, more evidence surfaces that the long-awaited Obama "long-form birth certificate" is fake.

Prior to the release of "Where's the Birth Certificate," conscientious Americans have had basically two choices:

1. Believe that their president, Barack Obama – after years of ignoring the millions of citizens who, according to repeated polls, doubt his official nativity story and just want the truth regarding his birth, his past and his loyalties – has simply been playing games with the public and hiring lawyers to block release of his birth certificate, only to do it now, after years of needless stonewalling.


2. Believe there may have been a real reason Obama adamantly refused to release his birth certificate all these years – meaning he had something real to hide and still does. And that perhaps the latest birth certificate, a copy of a copy of a document, posted on the Internet like the last one, is fraudulent.

Since neither choice is very palatable to most Americans, the release of Jerome Corsi's "Where's the Birth Certificate" will present a third choice: the sure understanding that, based on the U.S. Constitution and the framers' original intent, Barack Obama is not qualified to be president of the United States.

Obama's urgent treaty push called 'contempt of Congress'

Analysts fear START doc holds something prez wants concealed

Concern is mounting among experts in the arena of international treaties that the Obama administration is forcing U.S. senators to ram through a new strategic arms reduction document with the Russians without fully understanding the implications or its provisions – described by critics as unverifiable, according to a report from Joseph Farah's G2 Bulletin.

"(President Barack Obama's) demand that senators approve this defective accord during the few days remaining in the lame-duck session amounts to contempt of Congress," said Frank Gaffney who is president of the Center for Security Policy. "It must not be tolerated, let alone rewarded."

Critics say the treaty could "restrict" the nation's ability to defend itself, and suggest that there may be provisions Obama doesn't want members of the Senate to analyze, and possibly oppose.

Gaffney, a former acting assistant secretary of defense for international security policy, is versed in START treaties; he was involved in arms reduction negotiations during the Reagan administration.

He claims that senators have not had time to review the extensive negotiating record which reflected Russian opposition to U.S. positions while the administration decided to push for its approval anyway.

He and other critics claim that the treaty sets up a Bilateral Consultative Commission that will affect the treaty's terms materially – and make those changes without giving the Senate its constitutionally outlined advise and consent process.

The Senate requires a two-thirds vote, or approval by 67 members, before it is ratified.

Now, the Senate leadership has announced that it will hold a weekend session in an effort to ratify the treaty.

But critics are alarmed the treaty draft establishes a relationship between missile offense and missile defense, and as the U.S. shrinks its inventory of strategic nuclear weapons, it presents less latitude to beef up U.S. defenses against potential missile attacks not just from the Russians but other countries as well.

Critics are concerned that limitations in this treaty will preclude bolstering missile defenses against such countries as North Korea and Iran which are developing their own intercontinental ballistic missiles that soon could reach the U.S.

The net effect of any changes that could occur without U.S. approval would restrict U.S. missile defenses and make other reductions in U.S. nuclear deterrent forces, Gaffney said.

Other former leaders from the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives, along with top nuclear weapons and arms control experts, oppose the new START.

In a Dec. 13 letter to U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, they raised objections to consideration of START, especially in a lame-duck session, given all of the issues that still persist with the treaty draft.

"It is our considered professional judgment that this treaty and the larger disarmament agenda which ratification would endorse are not consistent with the national security interests of the United States, and that both should be rejected by the Senate," they wrote.

Republican tidal wave washes Washington incumbents to sea

The tidal wave of Republican victories expected by many pundits in the 2010 election has now landed on shore.

In the U.S. House of Representatives, where the GOP needed to win 39 seats from Democrats in order to take over leadership, poll returns now indicate Republicans will pick up at least 49 seats, with several races yet undecided.

In the U.S. Senate, where the power struggle was expected to be much closer, current voter returns indicate Republicans made gains but garnered just shy of the 10 seats needed to overcome the Democrats' 59-41 edge, with only a few races yet undecided.

Among the 37 states where the governor's mansion is up for grabs (and where Democrats held a 26-24 advantage going into this election), Republicans are projected to claim victories in Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Wisconsin and Wyoming – all previously held by Democrats – among others.

Notably, the transfer of power on Capitol Hill means Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif. – who powered several bills through Congress, including the health-care reform act branded as Obamacare – will lose her position as House speaker in 2011.

"This is going to be a big day," said Rep. John Boehner of Ohio, who is the leading Republican in line to be the new speaker of the House.

For those who think the government is spending too much and bailing out too many, Boehner told the Associated Press, "This is their opportunity to be heard."

Democrat pollster Doug Schoen put it even more bluntly: "This is a complete repudiation of the Democratic Party."

In the other house of Congress, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., entered the night expecting a close race with tea-party favorite Sharron Angle, but began to pull away in the late hours of the evening and was proclaimed the winner.

Final results of several election battles may not be known, even after all polls close. Tight races, absentee ballot counts and even recounts may come into play, even while allegations of voter fraud and election anomalies threaten to plague the results.

In Nevada, for example, according to an Associated Press report, Republican Party legal counsel David O'Mara may have cause to challenge the results, for he has already filed a 44-page complaint alleging voter logs in a pair of Nevada counties showed the number of ballots cast was larger than the number of voters who signed the election registers.

Angle's campaign has also alleged Reid and Democratic union backers were illegally buying votes with free food and Starbucks gift cards as well as pressuring casino workers into voting.

WND's Voter Fraud Hotline has also brought to light several instances of alleged impropriety at polls around the country.

Regardless of any potential court battles that may stem from fraud allegations, however, the sweeping Republican victory has major implications for the near future. The Democrats' loss of the U.S. House, coupled with what many pundits are suggesting is a resounding referendum on President Obama's policies, will profoundly affect the administration's ability to push its legislative agenda.

Furthermore, changes at the state level may have sweeping consequences in the upcoming redistricting process for the 2012 election. Of the 36 legislatures that control congressional redistricting, 23 chambers in 17 states entered the election within five seats of tying or changing hands. As Republican victories mount in governorships and state legislatures, the swing could grant the GOP a lasting boost in future elections as well.

Many commentators have credited the tea parties with driving an anti-incumbent fever in the electorate, as the grassroots movement demanded Congress reject federal health-care mandates and stop skyrocketing government spending. The Democrats in power, however, pushed both, becoming clear targets for voters looking to oust unresponsive legislators.

Noted Janet Porter, president of Faith2Action and WND columnist: "We tried to warn them – 9 million times – with pink slips that tripled the Washington Monument in height. Maybe next time they'll listen."

Races under the microscope

The evening brought conclusion in some races to months of heated media attention, while leaving some still to be decided.

GOP Senate candidate Christine O'Donnell, for example, who garnered perhaps the largest share of news coverage in the past few weeks, was unable to upset Democrat Christopher Coons, the clear victor in Delaware's election to fill Vice President Joe Biden's former seat.

In Florida, tea-party favorite Marco Rubio completed his bid to first topple Gov. Charlie Crist in the Republican primary race for a Senate nomination and then beat Crist again in the general election.

Fox News analyst Brit Hume, speaking of Charlie Crist, the former Republican who continued his run for Senate as an independent, said, "This may be the single most flexible politician I've ever seen."

The president is scheduled to hold a full press conference in the White House East Room at 1 p.m. tomorrow, presumably to comment on today's election.

Surmising that Obama will deliver a message urging the new Congress to work with him in bipartisan cooperation, radio host Laura Ingraham said, "It's always an end to partisanship when Republicans make significant advances. ... It's kind of predictable. ... I hope Republicans don't fall for the Lucy-and-the-football, you-gotta-be-bipartisan-kind-of-thing now."

Chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee John Cornyn of Texas also addressed working with Obama in the wake of today's Republican surge:

"I think here's a chance not only for the nation to make a midcourse correction, but for President Obama, as well," Cornyn said. "If he'll work with us on those issues-like getting Americans back to work, cutting spending and debt, then I think he'll find a more-than-willing partner in the GOP."

The senator, however, also issued Obama a warning:

"If he's going to continue to not listen to the American people and lecture them and tell them what he thinks is good for them despite their wishes, then I think we're in for a pretty tough period," Cornyn said. "And the electorate will cast their judgment for 2012."

Now that Barack Obama and the Democratic Congress have straightened out the automobile industry, solved the banking problems, ended the housing mess, reversed the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression and have begun the process on providing universal health care, they are setting their sights on saving the planet from the ravages of "man-made, catastrophic global warming."

How are they going to do it?

The same way they solved all the other problems – by stealing more wealth and freedom from you, your children, your grandchildren and your great-grandchildren.

However, there is one difference between the issue of "climate change" and all the others.

All the other problems actually had at least some basis in reality. In other words, there really were some problems associated with the automobile industry, the banks, housing, the economy and health care. I would suggest to you that the very people designing the "solutions" were responsible for creating those messes. And I would also suggest to you that their "solutions" are actually only going to make matters worse.

But, at least, we can all agree that there were some issues needing to be addressed – if not by Washington, by someone.

In this case, the very crisis itself has been manufactured out of whole cloth for the express purpose of redistributing wealth, inhibiting freedom and empowering government beyond our wildest imaginations.

You don't have to be a rocket scientist to understand this. In fact, it helps if you are not an employee of NASA – because NASA has a vested interest in exploiting the "global warming" myth.

But while banking and car-making and the economy and health care are all tough issues for ordinary, untrained people to understand, the weather is most definitely not.

Let's face it – farmers can predict the weather as well as most meteorologists. With a homemade barometer, a thermometer and an understanding of cloud formations, I've trained my 9-year-old daughter to do as good a job at predicting the weather as the local weather professionals.

Most of us live in climates where the temperature range can easily top 40 degrees in a 24-hour period. Did you ever think about that? It's not unusual to have temperatures rise 40 degrees or more from night to day. In some climates, the range can be much higher – in one day!

Over the course of a week, you can see much more significant changes in temperature.

Over the course of a month, you will witness even greater changes.

And, of course, over a 365-day period, you will see temperature changes that can easily top 100 degrees. Again, far more in some places – like New York, Chicago, Boston, Minneapolis, Denver and so forth.
